Originally founded in 1910, MWE Architects is an RIBA Chartered Practice with a long history of delivering projects across Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead, Northumberland, and the wider North of England. Our portfolio spans residential, workplace, and retail projects, with a particular emphasis on the residential sector — from bespoke extensions and individual homes through to new-build developments and partnerships with national housebuilders on larger sites. Our team combines technical expertise with a collaborative design approach, ensuring each project is carefully tailored to client needs and site context.

Over time, the practice has developed specialist knowledge in Northumberland, where projects often involve historic and listed buildings in conservation areas and sensitive landscapes. This experience has given us a deep understanding of balancing heritage requirements with contemporary design, enabling us to create architecture that respects context while introducing thoughtful innovation. We work collaboratively with clients to understand their aspirations and develop sketch options using a range of visualisation techniques, from hand drawings to 3D modelling and walkthroughs. This process leads to the production of detailed construction and tender information, forming a robust foundation for delivery. Once works begin on site, we can also provide contract administration services, offering reassurance and continuity throughout the construction phase.
